The Poetical Works of John and Charles Wesley 156Verse 29
Open in the readerWhile through the sea by faith they past,
The sea retired at God's command,
The waves shrink back with trembling haste,
The waves a crystal barrier stand.
The Egyptians, daring to pursue,
With horror found a watery grave;
Too late their want of faith they knew,
And sunk beneath the o'erwhelming wave.
